"Are there going to be any more Bookworm Next Door Stories?"
"Will we find out more about what happens with Grace and Kyle?" Or Delilah and David. Or Kelly. Jennifer and Weston? Hannah and Brady? What happens to Aimee?
"Is it finished?"
At present time there is one (ONE!) college year story completed. It is about Hannah and is exactly 236 words long. They don't need anymore than that at the moment. Not for this fragment of time. Although they are very much likely to pop up in Kelly's story. It wouldn't be right for her brother, sister-in-law, and nephew to not appear in her story.
There are three stories started - Stephanie (doesn't she deserve her match after setting up Hannah and Brady?), Charlotte (her sister's are happy, why not her as well?), and Aimee.
And as left off, Aimee has issues. Lots and lots of issues.
So what is the problem?
Plotting. Do I break up some of my characters only to have them get back together again or find somebody new? Do I take a more realistic approach or stick with the exaggerated inspired-by-the-over-the-top-teen-comedies-from-my-teens approach again?
Add to it, my writing has changed since I finished the High School Years.
But here is the other thing, the thing that allows me to move forward whereas I couldn't, say, last summer. I had not written anything in the new adult/college years category except toying with Charlotte's story. With Persuaded under my belt, the progression from young adult/high school to new adult/college isn't a challenge for me anymore.
Don't mistake me. I still have the plotting issues as before, but Stephanie's short story is nearly halfway finished, Aimee and Charlotte will be touched on next, and I think I'll work on Grace and Kyle after that.
However, the silver lining to this post - Hannah and Brady's very short short (238 words) is available as a free PDF download in the Extras section!
Happy Reading!
Alicia
