Everything was falling apart.
Thanks to her stupid ankle, she lost her athletic scholarship. Even if she could run again, it wouldn't be at competitive levels.
Without that scholarship she wouldn't be able to afford the dorms.
She felt as if her boat was set adrift and she didn't want to use the oars named student loans.
